Responses to emails

I've sent my email two minuets ago and still haven't gotten a response?! How can that be?

This situation can have several reasons, for example:

  • The addressee gets loads of emails. The Office of Academic Affairs alone is responsible for over a thousand students of chemistry and biochemistry, the lecturers in chemistry, und many other people.
  • The addressee is on vacation, sick, or you haven't sent your request on a workday.
  • The issue is not easy to answer, for example the addressee needs to contact other people (lecturers, collegues, the Examination Board, etc.) before they can find a solution.
  • The addressee has several other tasks, some of them need more urgent attendance.
  • You posted your request long before a deadline, but its only going to be dealt with once the deadline passed for everyone.
  • and much more

Therefore, one request: patience

In case you need documents, e.g. performance overviews, study prognoses for scholarships or the office for foreigners, then please ask as early as possible – not with just one or two days left before the deadline. Otherwise, you might not get these documents in time.
