Professorships
The department has 41 professorships:
- Biology: 16, one of which is vacant and two prematurely reassigned (7 women, 9 men)
- Chemistry and Biochemistry: 18, three of which are prematurely reassigned (5 women, 13 men)
- Pharmacy: 7 (3 women, 4 men)
There are also four junior professorships, five professorships outside the structure and ten special professorships in the department, six of which are held by women.
Employees
At the department work...
- approx. 200 academic employees in structural positions (excluding externally funded positions), of which approx. 40% are women
- approx. 200 employees for technology, service and administration in structural positions (excluding externally funded positions), of which approx. 57% are women
- approx. 240 employees from third-party funds, of which approx. 50% are women
Teaching
The department had a total of approx. 3,940 students in 2023.
- Biology: 1,440
- Chemistry and Biochemistry: 1,690
- Pharmacy: 810
Doctorates and Habilitation
Currently, approximately 900 doctoral students are supervised. In 2023, 142 doctorates were completed:
- Biology: 45
- Chemistry: 38
- Biochemistry: 36
- Pharmacy: 23
Three habilitation were also completed in 2023.
Research and External Funding
At the Department of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, around 18,2 million euros in third-party funding was approved for research projects in 2023:
- Biology: approx. 4.7 million euros
- Chemistry and Biochemistry: approx. 12.4 million euros
- Pharmacy: approx. 1.1 million euros
