Single Crystal Diffraction - A Hands-On Workshop
Workshop on Single Crystal Structure Determination
Sept. 2nd - 6th 2024, at Freie Universität Berlin, Fabeckstr. 34-36.
We will cover essential crystallographic theory, hands-on exercises, both at diffractometers and for refinements. Target audience is students at the end of their master studies, and early Ph.D. students. No prior in-depths knowledge is required, but you should already have an idea what this method is used for.
Workshop language is English. Speakers are Sabine Becker (RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau) and Johanna Heine (Uni Marburg). Participation is free of charge for enrolled students and members of a european university. Participation is limited to 50 people. First come, first serve. Registration closed, max. number of participants reached. We have set up a waiting list in case registered participants cancel. Get in contact via mail to join the waiting list.
Limited travel stipends are available through the GDCh sections "Festkörperchemie und Materialforschung" and "Wöhler-Vereinigung für Anorganische Chemie". If you need an official confirmation of your registration including the active participation, i.e. for applying for travel stipends, please get in touch via email. Recommended Hotels close to the workshop are the Seminaris CampusHotel (5 minutes walk) and Steglitz International (20 minutes by bus) or any Berlin Hotel that is close to the Subway Line U3. A limited amount of laptops is available for the refinement exercises but we encourage participants to bring their own laptop, with Olex2 or ShelXle, as well as Platon, PublCIF and Mercury already installed.
