We are recording the electrostatic fields emanating from the moving patterns of honeybees inside the colony as a measure of the colony´s health status. Since the health status of a colony is mostly determined by the environmental conditions we are using this method to monitor the pesticide load in the foraging area of the colony. Our goal is to introduce this method into normal beekeeping practice besides collecting research data on the effect of pesticide uptake on the level of the whole colony. Therefore, we collaborate with several beekeepers all around Germany and collect their data on a weekly basis.

Our goals right now are to prepare all kinds of hives as measuring hives and to reduce the amount of data collected. Furthermore, we improve our hardware and software in order to evaluate the data on a shorter time basis.
