Unmixing of sensory channels encoding painful stimuli

I am interested in the sensory discrimination achieved by neuronal circuits in the brain, particularly of the different types of painful somatosensation which are carried by overlapping channels. I approach this problem by combining analysis of extracellular recording data for temporal features in the neuronal code with computational network models.
