Abstract
The main fields of our investigations are the syntheses and structure analyses of polyoxometallates (Mo, W, Ta) and halo-d10-metallates (Cu, Ag, Zn, Cd). In both groups of compounds the polyanion structures and the resulting properties of the corresponding compounds such as reactivity, catalytic activity, possibility of ion exchange or electrical conductivity (superionics) are controlled by the size, shape and charge of the cations present. For this reason we systematically prepare polyoxometallates and halo-d10-metallates with a variety of inorganic and organic cations. The aim of our research is the isolation of new types of anions (Fig. 1, 3) as well as to find new networks of known polyanions formed by using suitable cations leading to solid state compounds with unusual structures (Fig. 2) and properties.
